Helsinki Airport opens medical centre for passengers

A medical service centre will be opened at the Helsinki Airport for the treatment of incoming and outgoing passengers, said Finavia, the company operates country´s airports in a press release on Friday.
Finavia and Aava Medical Centre have signed a cooperation agreement on the opening of a travel clinic at Helsinki Airport and the clinic will serve the passengers in the airport’s gate area.
“Finavia aims to continuously develop services for passengers. We are pleased to start cooperation with Aava Medical Centre, which has strong expertise in travel clinic services. The COVID-19 pandemic has made health and safety even more important than before,” said Nora Immonen, Vice President of Finavia, also Director of Commercial Services at Helsinki Airport.
The medical services will be available to all departing passengers as well as passengers arriving on flights that are not subject to internal border controls.
The airport medical services include on-site basic health care and remote appointments with doctors.
Aava’s service point at the airport will provide passengers with quick treatment for common complaints such as migraine, stomach problems, earache and allergic reactions.
Certain travel vaccinations can also be provided if the passenger gets to the airport in good time.
COVID-19 testing will also be included in the clinic’s service offering. Asymptomatic passengers can be tested when their destination country requires a certificate of a negative test result.
“Aava has strong expertise in aviation medicine and travel health. We are pleased to have the opportunity to make our expertise available to passengers and the airport. This is a new initiative for us and Finavia, and the service offering will be refined on the basis of customer needs and demand,” said Managing Director of Aava Raija Tapio.
