9 more deaths, 840 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 442 as nine more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday.

Out of the deaths, five were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), two in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS) and two in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 29,572 as 840 more cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far a total of 330 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 42 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 25 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), 23 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), and 22 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Thursday, 20,000 or more than 70% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 244 coronavirus patients, including 25 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 533 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
