8 more deaths, 1037 new coronavirus cases diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 461 as eight more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 31,110 as 1 037 more cases were diagnosed in the last three days.

Out of the new cases, 377 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 360 on Sunday, and 300 on Monday, said the THL.

Meanwhile, the THL made a correction to the figures of deaths in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS) at 45 from the earlier announced 48.

So far a total of 340 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 45 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 26 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), 25 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), and 25 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Monday, 20,000 or more than 70% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 276 coronavirus patients, including 28 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 561 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
