5 more deaths, 349 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 466 as five more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Tuesday.

Out of the deaths, three were reported in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and two in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS).

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 31,459 as 349 more cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far a total of 340 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 47 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 28 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 26 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and 25 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Tuesday, 20,000 or more than 70% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 284 coronavirus patients, including 35 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 568 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
