5 more deaths,354 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 489 as five more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Friday.

Out of the deaths, three were reported in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, one was reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and one in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS).

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 32,582 as 354 more cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far a total of 352 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 53 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 31 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 27 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 26 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

Until Friday, 22, 500 or more than 70% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 263 coronavirus patients, including 30 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 588 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
