8 more deaths, 554 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 2 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland rose to 584, as eight more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last two days since Tuesday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday.
Out of the deaths, five were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and three in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 37,772, as 554 new cases were diagnosed since the last two days.
Out of the infections, 331 were reported on Wednesday while 223 were reported on Thursday, said the THL.
So far, a total of 400 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 69 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 43 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, 41 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and 31 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).
Until Thursday, 31, 000 or more than 80% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.
A total of 186 coronavirus patients, including 32 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 681 per 100,000 people. Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
