11 more deaths, 722 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland rose to 597, as 11 more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

Out of the deaths, seven were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and four were in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 38,790, as 722 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days.

Out of the infections, 324 were reported on Saturday, 198 on Sunday and 200 on Monday, said the THL.

So far, a total of 407 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 70 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 47 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, 42 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and 31 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

Until Monday, 31, 000 or more than 80% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 166 coronavirus patients, including 32 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 700 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
