4 more deaths, 423 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland rose to 664, as four more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday.

Out of the deaths, three were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and one was reported in Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 44, 039 as 423 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far 450 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 78 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 53 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, 51 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and 32 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 138 coronavirus patients, including 22 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 794 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
