1 more death, 400 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 734 as one more patient died in Turku Hospital District (TYKS) in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 54, 532 as 400 new cases were diagnosed at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours.

So far, 488 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 79 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 74 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 60 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 33 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 186 coronavirus patients, including 34 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 984 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
