8 more deaths,1657 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 750 as eight more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.
Out of the deaths, six were reported in the in Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) while one was reported in Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS) each.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 58, 064 as 1657 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days.
Out of the new cases, 645 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 620 on Sunday, and 392 on Monday, said the THL.
The total number of the coronavirus variants increased to 1,235 in the country. Out of the cases 1170 were UK variants, 65 South African variants and one Brazilian variant.
So far, 497 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 79 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 78 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 62 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 34 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).
A total of 239 coronavirus patients, including 39 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1049 per 100,000 people.
Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
