3 more deaths,779 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 779 as three more patients died in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS) in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 63,889 as 779 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.
The total number of the coronavirus variants are remained at 1, 295 in the country. Out of the cases 1,223 were UK variants, 71 South African variants, and one was Brazilian variant.
So far, 509 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 82 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 79 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 64 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS) and 45 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).
A total of 256 coronavirus patients, including 43 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1154 per 100,000 people.
Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
