3 more deaths, 125 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in the country has reached 942 as three more patients died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 91, 744 as 125 new cases were diagnosed in that time.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country remained at 6, 875. Of them, 5,639 are UK variants, 1194 South African variants, 40 Indian variants and two Brazilian variants.

So far, 603 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 102 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 91 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), 84 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), and 62 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 114 coronavirus patients, including 18 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,657 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
