3 more deaths, 506 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 1 week

The coronavirus death toll in the country has reached 967 as three more patients died in different hospital districts in the last one week since Thursday, 10 June, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday afternoon.
Out of the deaths, two were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) while the rest one in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS).
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 94, 026 as 506 new cases were diagnosed in the last seven days.
Out of the new cases, 93 infections were diagnosed on Thursday, 47 on Friday, 114 on Saturday, 47 on Sunday, 29 on Monday, 73 on Tuesday and 103 on Wednesday.
The number of coronavirus variants in the country increased to 8660. Of them, 7,067 are Alfa variants, 1,377 Beta variants, three Gamma variants and 213 Delta variants.
So far, 613 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS, 104 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), 103 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 85 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), and 62 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).
A total of 43 coronavirus patients, including 12 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.
According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,698 per 100,000 people.
Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
