1 more death, 1146 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 1 week

The coronavirus death toll in the country has reached 973 as one more patient died in the last one week since Thursday, 24 June, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 95, 742 as 1146 new cases were diagnosed in the last seven days.

Out of the new cases, 123 infections were diagnosed on Thursday, 145 on Friday, 125 on Saturday, 95 on Sunday, 84 on Monday, 219 on Tuesday and 355 on Wednesday.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country increased to 9280. Of them, 7,522 are Alfa variants, 1,415 Beta variants, five Gamma variants and 338 Delta variants.

A total of 38 coronavirus patients, including seven in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,729 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
