2 more deaths,1839 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 1 week

The coronavirus death toll in the country has reached 978 as two more patients died in the last one week since Thursday, 7 July, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 98, 888 as 1839 new cases were diagnosed in the last seven days.

Out of the new cases, 300 infections were diagnosed on Thursday, 302 on Friday, 293 on Saturday, 138 on Sunday, 133 on Monday, 290 on Tuesday and 383 on Wednesday.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country increased to 10, 241. Of them, 7,891 are Alfa variants, 1,428 Beta variants, six Gamma variants and 916 Delta variants.

A total of 43 coronavirus patients, including 10 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,786 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
