11 new deaths, 5051 coronavirus infections diagnosed in 1 week

The coronavirus death toll in the country increased to 995 as 11 new deaths were reported in the country in the last one week since Thursday, 5 August, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 1, 14, 281 as 5051 new cases were diagnosed in the last seven days.
Out of the new cases, 752 infections were diagnosed on Thursday, 738 on Friday, 165 on Saturday, 1322 on Sunday, 449 on Monday, 781 on Tuesday and 844 on Wednesday.
The number of coronavirus variants in the country increased to 12, 281. Of them, 7,953 are Alfa variants, 1,445 Beta variants, seven Gamma variants and 2876 Delta variants.
A total of 83 coronavirus patients, including 19 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.
According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 2064 per 100,000 people.
Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
