13 new deaths, 5039 coronavirus infections diagnosed in 1 week

The coronavirus death toll in the country increased to 1008 as 13 new deaths were reported in the country in the last one week since Thursday, 12 August, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 1, 19, 320 as 5039 new cases were diagnosed in the last seven days.
Out of the new cases, 1024 infections were diagnosed on Thursday, 926 on Friday, 765 on Saturday, 535 on Sunday, 451 on Monday, 665 on Tuesday and 673 on Wednesday.
The THL, however, did not give any statistics about the number of coronavirus variants such as Alfa, Beta, Gamma and Delta in the last week.
A total of 106 coronavirus patients, including 29 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.
According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 2155 per 100,000 people.
Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
