10 new deaths, 4315 coronavirus infections diagnosed in 1 week

The coronavirus death toll in the country increased to 1018 as 10 new deaths were reported in the country in the last one week since Thursday, 19 August, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 1, 23, 635 as 4315 new cases were diagnosed in the last seven days.
Out of the new cases, 866 infections were diagnosed on Thursday, 684 on Friday, 673 on Saturday, 503 on Sunday, 371 on Monday, 644 on Tuesday and 574 on Wednesday.
The THL, however, did not give any statistics about the number of coronavirus variants such as Alfa, Beta, Gamma and Delta in the last week.
A total of 99 coronavirus patients, including 22 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.
According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 2233 per 100,000 people.
Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
