The City of Helsinki has made coronavirus vaccines available at the schools for the secondary and vocational institutes students without appointment from 1 September to 10 September.
The vaccination is provided at schools to everyone, regardless of their municipality of residence, said the City of Helsinki in a press release on Monday.
Vaccinations will start at different times in different educational institutions, and the times will be announced via the Wilma system.
If a student has already received first vaccination, he or she can receive the second COVID-19 vaccination dose if at least eight weeks have elapsed since the first vaccination.
In this case, the authority recommended that the student to bring documentation concerning the first vaccination with them.
“The best way to ensure that students can study at the schools is a high vaccination coverage. At present, 74 per cent of 16-19-year-olds have received the first vaccination dose. Now when the availability is better, we hope that even more people get vaccinated,” said Medical Director of Health Stations Timo Lukkarinen, adding that there is no need to reserve time for the vaccination in advance.
The young person can decide for themselves to be vaccinated. If a young person does not want to decide regarding their vaccination or is unable to, administering the vaccine requires their guardians’ consent.
The COVID-19 vaccinations can also be received without an appointment at Helsinki's vaccination points in Jätkäsaari, Malmi, Messukeskus and Myllypuro, as well as pop-up vaccination points.
