12 new deaths, 4226 coronavirus infections diagnosed in 1 week

The coronavirus death toll in the country increased to 1030 as 12 new deaths were reported in the country in the last one week since Thursday, 26 August, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 1, 27, 861 as 4226 new cases were diagnosed in the last seven days.
Out of the new cases, 650 infections were diagnosed on Thursday, 570 on Friday, 619 on Saturday, 619 on Sunday, 472 on Monday, 617 on Tuesday and 679 on Wednesday.
The THL, however, did not give any statistics about the number of coronavirus variants such as Alfa, Beta, Gamma and Delta in the last week.
A total of 97 coronavirus patients, including 21 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.
According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 2309 per 100,000 people.
Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
