2nd case of monkeypox suspected in Finland

The second case of suspected monkeypox viral infection has been spotted in Finland, said the Helsinki and Uusimaa hospital district (HUS) in a press release on Wednesday.
The suspected monkeypox virus belongs to Orthopoxviruses genus has been found in a male patient.
The authority, however, said that confirmation regarding the suspected monkeypox infection will be made after the sample sequencing will be completed later.
HUS believed that the patient might have been infected during a trip to Europe. The patient, who is now under homecare has blisters and high fever.
The HUS urged the people experiencing syndromes of monkeypox to contact with the hospital for test.
"People with an increased risk and symptoms should contact the healthcare department over phone and apply for a test," said Chief Physician Asko Järvinen.
The first case of monkeypox infection in the country was suspected last week and HUS later confirmed the infection on 26 May.
