The Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) is facing a glitch to access to several thousands of laboratory referrals from the City of Helsinki, said HUS in a press release.

The technical problem occurred when deleting old referrals from the information system.

The issue concerns about 5,000–10,000 referrals that have been made before August 29.

The authority, however, said that it is possible to recover the laboratory referrals, but it will take some time.

The issue appears when a patient comes to the laboratory for tests but their referral is not available in the information system. If this occurs, the laboratory staff will contact the referring unit when necessary.

If the examination is urgent and the results must be ready on the same or the following day, the referring unit will make a new referral.

If the examination is not urgent, the patient will be asked to come again after a week.

Laboratory customers from Helsinki can contact the HUS laboratory customer service over phone.

The authority apologizes for the inconvenience.
