44K people vaccinated in Helsinki in 4 days

The influenza and coronavirus vaccinations of risk groups started in Helsinki on Monday and about 44 000 vaccines have been administered, said the City of Helsinki in a press release on Thursday.

The vaccinations will continue until the end of next week.

The City’s ten vaccination points have been visited by large numbers of people in the last few days. The first vaccination days were especially busy, causing some queues.

“We want to thank the residents of Helsinki for their patience. Everyone belonging to risk groups will get their vaccinations. We hope that people who have made appointments to get the vaccines arrive at the vaccination points on time. This will help us shorten the queues,” said Medical Director of Health Stations Timo Lukkarinen.

Some more time slots for vaccination will be opened during the vaccination weeks and people can check the time slots available at their local vaccination point for the same day in Maisa. Time slots will also become available due to cancellations.

If anyone wants to get vaccinated without an appointment, the person needs to visit the local vaccination point, meaning the closest health station.

In order for people who find it challenging to come to the vaccination points to also get the vaccines, all home care clients are vaccinated at home.

Home care professionals are in contact with clients and take care of their vaccinations. This also applies to customers of the outsourced home care services. Hospital wards, senior centres and service homes in Helsinki will handle the vaccination of their own clients.

Those belonging to risk groups are also being vaccinated at maternity and child health clinics and by school, student and occupational health care services. Vaccinations at maternity and child health clinics will begin on Monday 13 November.

The vaccination point at Koskela Senior Centre will be open on Saturday from 9.00–16.00. Everyone who belongs to risk groups will get the influenza and coronavirus vaccines without an appointment.
