Jorvi Hospital’s main entrance will be closed for construction starting September 1, for about 1.5 years, said the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) on Friday.

The construction site of the new ward building at Jorvi Hospital will expand at the end of August 2024, and the main entrance to the existing hospital building will be closed.

The ramp leading to the main entrance will be demolished and access to Jorvi Hospital will be via other routes until January 2026.

From September 1, 2024, when the main entrance, entrance A, closes, access to the hospital will mainly be through entrance B on the 1st floor of Jorvi Hospital, or from Espoo Hospital via a passageway.

Jorvi Hospital's main lobby on the 2nd floor will continue to operate as usual throughout the entire construction period.

The temporary access routes will be in use until January 2026 when the new main entrance will open.

The construction site will not only change traffic arrangements but will also cause noise, dust, and vibration in the surrounding area.

Ramp leading to main entrance cannot be used starting end of August. Its demolition will begin immediately in September.

Cars, including taxis, will drive via Karvasmäentie to Espoo Hospital's underground parking garage P1 or to entrance B on the 1st floor of Jorvi Hospital.

Only dropoff traffic is allowed at entrance B meaning that you can drop a person off at the door, but even short-term parking is not allowed. You can park your car in Espoo Hospital’s parking garage P1.

People arriving on foot will need to use entrance B on the 1st floor of Jorvi Hospital.

Ambulances will be guided to entrance A3 on the Turuntie side where there is elevator access to the 2nd floor and from there to the inpatient wards and main lobby. The route is barrier-free.

Jorvi Hospital’s new ward building will be built attached to the old hospital building. The new building and the old hospital will share a main lobby which will have a new main entrance.

The new main entrance will open in January 2026, and it will be on the new building’s side, very close to the old main entrance.

The finished ward building will house inpatient wards for specialized healthcare and facilities for childbirth, imaging, and outpatient clinics for women and children. Operations will begin in the new building during summer 2026.
