36.1% votes cast in advance in parliamentary polls

A total of 1534642 votes, 36.1 per cent of the total votes, were cast in advance in the parliamentary elections, sources at the Ministry of Justice said.
Tuesday was the last day of advance voting where a total of 701398 male and 833244 female cast their votes.
The advance voting began at 911 polling stations on April 3 to elect 200 lawmakers from a total of 2468 candidates for a four-year term.
The advance voting was also held abroad at 219 Finnish diplomatic or consular missions or their offices in 86 countries from April 3 to April 6.
The number of voters in the parliamentary polls this year scheduled for April 14 is 4255464 including 2069501 men and 2185963 women, official sources said.
A total of 19 registered political parties and 136 independent candidates are taking part in the elections this year.
There will be 1,943 polling stations which will remain open from 9.00 to 20.00 across the country on the election day.
Preliminary results will be available during the evening of the election day and the following night.
A recount of the votes will be conducted in the constituency electoral committees on Monday, 15 April, and the committees will confirm the final results of the elections on Wednesday, 17 April.
