Bank official held for misappropriating EUR 500,000

Police held an employee of a bank at Ostrobothnia area on charge of transferring an amount of EUR 500,000 to his own account.

A court in southern Ostrobothnia remanded the employee into custody on Friday following the incident of suspected fund misappropriation, national broadcaster Yle reported.

The National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) discovered that the bank official transferred the money to his personal account in the last few months.

The 30-year-old employee is suspected of aggravated embezzlement, aggravated fraud and official misconduct, the Yle report added.
