Two people died of coronavirus infection in the country in the last 24 hours, local media reported quoting the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and the Kanta-Häme Hospital District.

With these two, the death toll raised to three in Finland.

Earlier, the first coronavirus death in the country took place in the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District on March 20.

The HUS in a statement said that an elderly patient died at a hospital under the district on Tuesday evening while Kanta-Häme Hospital District in a separate statement said that a middle-aged patient died at in the Kanta-Häme Central Hospital on Wednesday.

The authority, however, did not divulge detail information about the deceased persons considering the confidentiality of the victims.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus infection cases in Finland has risen to 880, as 88 more cases were diagnosed on Wednesday in different areas of the country, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

Experts, however, fear that the total number of people infected with coronavirus in Finland is much higher than the official figure counted by the authorities concerned.

All the suspected cases are not being tested anymore. So the real number of infections is feared to be much higher. Only the seriously ill and risk-group people, such as social and healthcare workers, are being tested in the country now.
