16 killed in road mishaps across country in June

At least 16 persons were killed and 513 other injured in 403 separate road accidents across the country in June, 2017, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of persons killed was seven lower and that of persons injured 88 lower than in June 2016.
Of the persons who were killed, 11 travelled by private car, one by van, one by moped and one by motorcycle.
Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered one and cyclist one. Among those who died, 12 were men and four were women.
A total of 1,977 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to June period. In them, 109 persons were killed and 2,514 persons injured.
The number of persons killed was three lower and that of persons injured 127 lower than in the corresponding period of 2016.
Of the persons who were killed, 68 travelled by passenger car, six by van, two by moped, three by motorcycle and four by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 14 and cyclists five. In addition, seven other road users were killed.
