Prime Minister Sanna Marin and her partner Markus Räikkönen got married on Saturday.

According to a government press release issued on Sunday afternoon, the wedding ceremony took place in the prime minister’s official residence Kesäranta with family members and close friends of the couple attending.

Marin, a 34-year-old leader of the Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) and Räikkönen have been living together for 16 years and they have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.

The prime minister shared a photo of the newly married couple on Instagram where she expressed happiness and satisfaction for sharing her life with her beloved person.

She wrote that they have seen and experienced a lot together, shared joy and sorrow, and supported each other through the calm and the storms.

The couple met in Tampere when both of them were 18 years old.
