19 killed in road mishaps in February

Nineteen people were killed and 383 injured in separate road accidents across the country in February, according to the Statistics Finland.

The preliminary data of Statistics Finland said that 294 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in February.

The number of persons killed the same and that of persons injured 43 higher than in February 2016.

Of the persons who were killed, nine travelled by passenger car, three by van and one by lorry.

Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered three. In addition, three other road users were killed. Among those who died, 12 were men and seven were women.

A total of 635 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to February period.

Out of them, 29 persons were killed and 817 persons injured. The number of persons killed was six lower and that of persons injured 47 higher than in the corresponding period of 2016.

Of the persons who were killed, 14 travelled by passenger car, three by van and two by lorry.

Pedestrians killed numbered five. In addition, five other road users were killed.
