An Indian software engineer went missing from Helsinki 12 days ago, said relatives of the victim.

The of 26-year-old engineer named Hari SudhanThanneeru from Chennai, an employee of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) stationed at its Finland office, has remained missing since September 8, a friend of the victim, Israel Thomas, informed the Daily Finland.

The Helsinki police are searching for the man and urged people to help them in this regard, the national broadcaster Yle reported, adding that Thanneeru was last seen on Fredrikinkatu in the city centre walking towards his home in Kalevankatu on September 8.

His phone was subsequently located by a phone mast in Hernesaari at around 18:45. The police say they do not at this stage suspect that Thaneeru is the victim of a crime, said the Yle report.

Earlier, on September 15, The Times of India, an English daily published from India, reported that Thanneeru, who has been working for TCS since 2013, made contact with his mother in Chennai on September 8 at 7.00 pm Indian local time (4.30pm Finnish time).

“Hari usually went for outings with friends on weekends,” Thaneeru’s father Balakanna told the Times of India.

TCS in February 2016 sent Thaneeru to work with the company’s financial services domain in Finland. He last visited Chennai two months ago, staying only for a short while, the newspaper report said quoting Balakanna.

The TCS unit in Finland currently has a workforce of around 500, mostly working in Espoo, and in the cities of Salo, Tampere, and Oulu, the report added.
