Finland sent additional civilian material assistance to Ukraine and neighbouring regions, said the Ministry of Interior in a press release.
Over the past few weeks, Finland has been sending civilian material assistance to Ukraine and adjoining regions and the most recent assistance package was sent on Tuesday consisted of two ambulances and a variety of rescue service supplies.
The material assistance was provided through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.
So far, shipments of rescue service supplies and vehicles from Finland have included a total of 11 ambulances and two fire engines.
The vehicles are outfitted with the necessary equipment. The vehicles and rescue service supplies have been donated by various rescue departments and hospital districts.
In recent weeks, Finland has also sent other material assistance and three experts to help coordinate the assistance delivered through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.
The EU’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre is coordinating the assistance delivered to both Ukraine and Moldova through the Mechanism.
Earlier in early March, Finnish Central Organisation for Rescue Services (Suomen Pelastusalan Keskusjärjestö)- SPEK has collected more than 3800 protective gears for the firefighters in Ukraine within a span of less than one week.
Finland also sent defence materiel assistance to Ukraine in late March.
