PM begins 3-day Japan visit on Tuesday

Prime Minister Sanna Marin will visit Japan from Tuesday to Thursday, said a government press release.
During her visit, Marin will meet with her Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida and Speaker of the House of Representatives Hiroyuki Hosoda.
Marin will be accompanied by Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari and a Finnish business delegation.
On Wednesday, Marin and Kishida will meet to discuss bilateral relations between Finland and Japan, the security situation in Europe and the current situation in Japan’s neighbouring regions.
Cooperation on international issues will also be on the agenda.
She will also meet with Speaker of the House of Representatives Hiroyuki Hosoda.
In addition, the Premier will speak at a high-level seminar exploring the impacts of digitalisation on society.
A key goal of the seminar is to increase cooperation and dialogue between Finland and Japan in the construction of future digital networks. The event is organised by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in cooperation with Business Finland and the University of Tokyo.
Marin and the Finnish business delegation will also have a meeting with representatives of the Japan Business Confederation Keidanren.
The aim is to strengthen relations between Finnish and Japanese businesses in fields such as science and technology.
A delegation of ten Finnish companies coordinated by Business Finland will take part in the visit.
The delegation includes representatives from the following companies: CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd, Finnair Plc, 6G Flagship, Haltian Ltd, IQM Quantum Computers, Nokia Plc, ReOrbit Ltd, Academy of Finland, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd and WithSecure Corporation.
Prime Minister Marin will return to Finland on Friday.
