The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) probed into allegations of inappropriate behavious to women by opposition Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP) lawmaker Wille Rydman, reported a leading Finnish language daily Helsingin Sanomat.
Several women accused the MP of his moves to get access to young women and girls using his political identity, reported national broadcaster Yle, quoting the Helsingin Sanomat.
The NBI, however did not find any evidence of crime in this connection.
According to the Helsingin Sanomat report, several women told the newspaper that the 36-year old lawmaker offered them drinks and alcohol even to underage girls.
The officials of Kokoomus were also aware of the allegations against Rydman.
The NBI started to probe into the matter in 2020 following a 17-year-old girl raised the issue through contacting a sex victim helpline, said the report.
The girl said that she faced sexual violence by a political person, who allegedly had been harassing girls from 14 years old to 17 years old for more than ten years, said the report.
Following the allegations, the police interviewed nine women but did not go ahead after the preliminary investigation as the allegations raised by the women had no ground to continue further.
According to Helsingin Sanomat, Rydman, however, denied the allegations. He also told Yle that he was seeking legal counsel following the newspaper report.
