The website of the Finnish parliament remained inaccessible from Tuesday afternoon following a denial of service attack, parliament sources said.
“A denial-of-service attack is directed against the Parliament's external websites. The attack began on Tuesday, August 9, at about 2:30 p.m. The Parliament takes steps to limit the attack together with service providers and the Cyber Security Center,” the authority wrote in a twitter post of the parliament in Finnish language.
Meanwhile, national broadcasting corporation Yle reported that a Russian hacker group NoName057(16) on its Telegram channel claimed the responsibility for the attack resulting down the website.
"We decided to make a 'friendly' visit to neighbouring Finland, whose authorities are so eager to join Nato," said the Yle report, quoting the group as saying on its Telegram channel.
Normal functioning of the website, however, was restored late Tuesday night at about 10:00 pm, said the parliament in another twitter post on Wednesday morning.
