1 killed in Sodankylä road mishap

One person was killed following an accident between a bus and a personal vehicle along national road 4 in Sodankylä, reported national broadcaster YLE.

The victim was riding in the personal vehicle together with another person who was taken to Lapland Central Hospital.

Twenty five passengers who were in the bus were taken to a health centre in Sodankylä for checkup.

According to the Finnish Transport Agency, the accident took place about 40 kilometres north of Sodankylä. Dozens of rescue units were alerted to the scene.

The weather condition in the area was poor at the time of accident. It was raining heavily and the road surface was slushy.
