Finland honoured the memory of the late Queen of the United Kingdom Elizabeth II late Friday night by illuminating the Foreign Ministry's building, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs..

“Finland mourns the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, honors her memory and greatly appreciates her commitment to deepening the friendship between our two nations Finland and Great Britain,” said the ministry in a twitter post.

Earlier, President Sauli Niinistö, Speaker of the Parliament Matti Vanhanen and Prime Minister Sanna Marin late Thursday night expressed profound shock at the death of UK´s Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest-reigning monarch in history, has died on Thursday at the age of 96.
