President starts 2-day visit to Norway

President Sauli Niinistö will start his two-day official visit to Norway on Monday, said the President Office in a press release.

The visit will begin in Oslo at a seminar of the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, where Niinistö will be present as the keynote speaker.

The theme of the seminar is the Nordic approach to the security situation in Europe.

After Niinistö’s opening speech, he and Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre will discuss the topic.

After the seminar Niinistö will meet with King Harald V of Norway at the Royal Palace.

In the afternoon, the President will hold bilateral discussions with Støre at the Prime Minister’s official residence.

Topics will include Russia’s warfare in Ukraine, the future of the European security order, and cooperation between Finland and Norway in foreign, security and defence policy.

Following their discussions, they will hold a joint press conference.

On Tuesday, Niinistö will meet with Norwegian Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram. He will also visit the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting, where he will hold discussions with President of the Storting Masud Gharahkhani and Committees on Foreign Affairs and Defence.
