A local court in Mikkeli, south eastern Finland, confirmed on Friday the detention of a suspect who allegedly killed a student in Mikkeli on Wednesday.
The University of Applied Sciences of South-East Finland (XAMK) told media both the suspect and the victim were foreign students.
The university said the victim was a Vietnamese born in 1995, according to newspaper Lansi-Savo. Flags were seen at half mast in the institution on Friday.
On Thursday, Eastern Finland Police Department said a 20-year-old man was caught near the scene soon after he allegedly killed another student with a knife.
The principal of XAMK Heikki Saastamoinen said the dead Vietnamese student had been in his third year in the university. The school withheld his name as the family had not been informed.
