Niinistö, Swedish parliamentary body discuss future NATO membership

President Sauli Niinistö on Thursday met with the visiting Swedish Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs in Helsinki and discussed various issues including Finland and Sweden’s future NATO membership, according to the President Office.

Discussions also focused on Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine and security in Europe.

Led by Aron Emilsson, Chair of the Swedish Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, the delegation consisted of eleven other Members of the Swedish Parliament (Riksdag).

The Committee also held a meeting with Finnish Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committees on Thursday, on the concluding day of its two-day visit to Finland.
