Turkish Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş on Thursday held separate meetings with Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä, Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakka and Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari and discussed various bilateral issues between Finland and Turkey.
The bilateral discussions between Skinnari and Muş focused on trade relations between the countries, cooperation in decarbonisation, green transition and digitalisation, development of global value chains and logistics, measures to promote sustainability, and the reform of the WTO, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a press release.
The discussions were held in a positive spirit and it was noted that the volume of trade between the two countries exceeded EUR 2 billion for the first time in 2022. The goal is to increase the volume of trade to EUR 5 billion in the near future.
Muş was accompanied by a large business delegation. A Finland-Turkey Business Roundtable was organised during the visit.
It was noted that the trade between the countries offers plenty of opportunities for both Finnish and Turkish companies.
Lintilä and Muş discussed opportunities for cooperation in the green and digital transitions, low-carbon industry and energy situation and economic and commercial relations, said the Ministry of Economic Affairs in a twitter post after the meeting.
“We met with H.E. Mika Lintilä, Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland. We discussed our commercial and economic relations as well as possible cooperation opportunities,” Muş wrote in his twitter after the meeting.
In another meeting Harakka and Muş evaluated possible cooperation on trade, transportation, information and communication technology and 5G and 6G network, according to the twitter posts of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Turkish minister.
