The President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy on Thursday decided that Finland will participate in the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine), said an official press release.

The number of Finnish soldiers will be maximum 50 serving in training and advisory tasks.

The committee also discussed the negotiations on a defence cooperation agreement between Finland and the United States, Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine and the security situation in Europe.

In addition, the committee received an update on international law issues related to Russia’s illegal war of aggression in Ukraine and on the implementation of international sanctions.

Earlier in October 2022, the President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy decided that Finland will prepare to participate in the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine).
