The police in Finland would not allow the desecration of Quran, the holy book of Islam, said the national broadcaster Yle quoting Finnish News Agency STT.

According to the report, violating religious peace in Finland is a punishable offence.

The statement further added that burning or desecration of a book held sacred by religious community would likely meet the hallmarks of the the crime.

A far-right activist Rasmus Paludan recently set fire to a copy of Quran infront of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm. Following the far-right protest, Erdogan told Sweden not to count on Turkey's support for Stockholm's NATO bid.
