Finland ranked second in the index of least corrupt countries published by Transparency International (TI) on Tuesday.
Another Nordic country Denmark ranked top in the list with 90 points out of 100.
Finland secured 87 points followed by New Zealand (87), Norway (84), Singapore (83) Sweden (83), Switzerland (82) and The Netherlands (80).
Somalia is in the bottom of the list of 180 countries followed by Syria, South Sudan, Venezuela, Yemen and Libya.
The Corruption Perception Index (CPI), which ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption according to experts and businesspeople, uses a scale of zero to 100, where zero is highly corrupt and 100 is very clean.
“The good news is that leaders can fight corruption and promote peace all at once. Governments must open up space to include the public in decision-making – from activists and business owners to marginalised communities and young people. In democratic societies, the people can raise their voices to help root out corruption and demand a safer world for us all,” said Daniel Eriksson, Chief Executive Officer of Transparency International.
