President gets Cross of Honour of Navy Veterans

President Sauli Niinistö on Thursday received the Cross of Honour of the Association of Navy Veterans at his official residence Mäntyniemi, said the President Office in a press release.

The Cross of Honour was awarded for the President’s outstanding work for the country’s honorary citizens, Finnish war veterans and lottas.

The Navy Veterans (Laivaston veteraanit) is a voluntary association founded in 1963 to preserve naval traditions and maintain the spirit of national defence.

Its members represent all categories of personnel who have served in the Finnish Navy.
