1 gunned down in Kokkola, 2 held

One person was killed when a miscreant attacked the person with firearm at the city centre of Kokkola, a municipality in the Central Ostrobothnia region on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The incident took place at about 5:00 pm when the attacker fired several rounds of gunshots at the person from inside a car at Tullikamarinkatu area and fled the scene.

The victim sustained severe bullet wounds in the attack and later succumbed to the injuries.

Responding to a call, police rushed to the spot and conducted extensive search at the locality and adjacent areas and immediately arrested two people including the attacker in this connection.

Police, however, did not divulge the detail identities of the deceased and the attacker and the reason behind the murder could not be known immediately.

Police are investigating into the incident as murder and did not disclose anything more at the initial stage of the investigation.
