Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto on Sunday expressed profound concern over the situation in Sudan and urged all parties to stop the fighting immediately, according to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The ministry in a twitter post in the evening wrote that Haavisto also urged the party to return to dialogue.

“Greatly concerned by the developments in Sudan. I call on all parties to stop immediately the fighting and return to dialogue,” said the twitter post, quoting the Foreign Minister as saying.

The deadly conflict between Sudan's army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the capital Khartoum has killed at least 56 people and wounded more than 590, raising international concerns about further escalation.
