Woman gunned down in Jyväskylä, suspect held

A woman was gunned down inside her apartment when miscreant attacked her with a firearm at Keltinmäki in Jyväskylä last month, police said in a press release on Tuesday.

Police recovered the body of the victim, the woman in her 30s from the place of occurrence at the end of last month, about two weeks after the murder.

The police started an investigation into the case and based on the preliminary investigation members of the law enforcing agency found suspected crime link to the incident.

Police later arrested a 20-year-old man hailed from Jyväskylä in this connection.

During the interrogation the suspect admitted to the police that the woman was killed by gunshots.

The police, however, did not divulge the detail identities of the victim and the suspect at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

Police produced the suspect before the Central Finland District Court and the court sent him to imprisonment on March 31.
