Five people were seriously injured in a collision involving a heavy truck and three automobiles on a freeway between Lahti and Helsinki, southern Finland on Tuesday evening.

At least three of the wounded were children and were taken to the Helsinki Pediatric Clinic, local media reported.

The accident took place at the outer beltway of Helsinki. The National Highway Four was partially closed for nearly three hours for the clearance.

Southern Finland experienced snow flurries on Tuesday. Rescue services said the freeway was not slippery, but visibility was poor due to drizzle.
