Finland sees century’s 2nd lowest number of marriages last year

A total of 21,942 couples entered into marriages in 2022, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of marriages is the second lowest in the last hundred years in Finland.

The number of couple entered into marriages, however, increased by 2,363 from the previous year.

A total of 21,519 marriages between opposite-sex spouses were entered into, which is 2,315 more than in the year before.

The number of couple entered into same-sex marriages was 423 in the last year, which 48 more than in the previous year.

The number of divorces was also the lowest in over 30 years.
